"You know what to do, Henry." She encourages me.

I swallow and glance back down at Brittany, noting the weak pulse in her throat.

She's completely passed out now and not lucid at all.

"But I can't ask for her consent," I shake my head, tortured by indecision. "What if she doesn't want this?"

I look up at Glenda, seeking direction, not even trying to hide the worry from my eyes or my voice. She already knows what Britney means to me.

"It was always going to be this way," she tells me gently. "It's fated. Now do what you must." She nods down at Brittany.

"You'll lose her if you don't," she reminds me gently when I still hesitate.

I can feel the life draining from Britney's weakened body as we speak, and I realize that Glenda is indeed right. I don't have any choice. I let her die a human death, or I activate the vampiress within her by biting her neck.

I stroke her hair back from her face, my soul knotting at the thought of never seeing her sapphire blue eyes peering up at me again.

I'm faced with an impossible choice, and the decision weighs heavily on me as I hold Britney's broken body in my arms, my soul torn in two.

What must I do?
