God, I have no idea what’s going on, but I definitely like it. Fear ebbs into want, and when he senses the slight change in my movements, the way I relax, and how my lips part, he takes it as approval.

He takes it as aninvitation.

Isaac’s mouth slams harder against mine, teeth nipping and biting along my lips until he can do the same to the side of my throat as he works his way down my shoulder. His hand on my hip istight, to the point that I wonder if I’ll have his finger marks as bruises in the morning.

But I really don’t mind. It doesn’t hurt in a bad way, and the pain from his fingers and his teeth spurs me on easily. He was embarrassingly on the money before when he talked about me liking a little roughness.

I like it. I like a little pain and a lot of unnecessary roughness. In fact, some part of me is wondering what he’d be like if I was agoodgirl for him. Or a not-so-good girl. I quash the thoughts or try to and reach up to pull away from him with my arms trembling.

I’m not afraid of him. Though I probably, definitely, should be considering everything that’s happened tonight. But I don’t know if I want him.

Not when his gang’s tattoo is branded into the back of my neck and burns so noticeably.

“No,” I tell him finally, hating that I almost sound disappointed. “I told you I don’t want you here, sofuck off, Isaac.”

“If that’s what you want…” He lifts my hand that had been cut by the blade and licks the little wound again, even though it’s stopped bleeding by now. “I’ll go. But I promise I won’t be far. It took a lot of coincidence and fate to put you back in my life, Ari.” He grins wolfishly. “I won’t let you out of it again.” His teeth scrape my finger, then bite down, and I can’t decide if that’s a promise, a threat, or a scary mixture of both.
