“Stevie, Melanie’s not dead.”
What? She survived? How in the hell did she survive?
“Neither is Charles.” He continues. “Somehow, they both survived the attack without any permanent damage. Apparently, they’re recovering in a secure facility outside of the city.”
“I need to go see them.” I say, glance around the table at each one of them. “Will one of you take me to go see them?”
Atlas shakes his head. “I don’t think that’s such a good idea, Kitten. She’s still recovering and we can’t let anyone from the outside world see you.”
“The hospital they’re at is secure. You said it yourself. And they both risked their lives trying to save me. The least I can do is come by and say thank you.”
Atlas sighs as his shoulders slump. “Fine, I’ll see what I can do. Now can we stop talking and go back to enjoying our breakfast? The food is getting cold.”
