“We own it,” Cy says with a shrug as if it’s the most casual thing ever. He notices the look on my face and narrows his eyes at me. “What’s that face for?”

“I just —. If you own this place, wouldn’t Dimitri avoid it like the plague? I mean, you guys would know he was here the second he walked through the building.”

Of course, Cy says with a nod. “But it’s not Mitri we’re looking for tonight. We’re looking for his minions. Under The Organization’s eyes, they’ve done nothing wrong, so they have no reason to hide. But under our eyes, not so much.”

“I see.”

“Don’t feel bad for them.” Cy says, taking my hand in his. “Mitri may have been the only one to harm you, but that doesn’t make these men innocent. Besides, if anyone knows where that son of a bitch is hiding, it’s them.”

Fuck. When I told them what happened, I really wish I had told them everything. They don’t know about The Zombie or the shit he did to me for the first few days of my capture. If they did, there would be an all out witch hunt for two men, not one.

I didn’t tell them the full truth for two reasons. One, because I didn’t want them to know I was tortured, and two, because I didn’t want them to look at me any differently. I just hope that was the right choice.

Cyrus and I make our way into the building. It’s been a while since I’ve been around strangers, but I feel a certain level of comfort knowing he’s by my side. Plus, the anonymity I have with the wig and sunglasses on makes me feel unstoppable.

As soon as we walk through the doors, we’re met with what looks like a small office building. The lights are off, but I can make out a handful of light gray cubicles filling the center of the large room.

“It’s a facade.” Cy says, pulling me towards the back of the office. “Instead of blacking out the windows and placing it in the middle of nowhere, we thought it’d be better to hide it in plain sight.”

Make sense.

Cy slips out an access card, similar to the one they use for the house and Hell’s, and swipes it across a small detector. The light flashes green and there’s a sound of a lock shifting.

Cy opens the door, and we’re greeted with a sleek set of glass stairs. It’s a stark contrast to the boring beige and gray office we’re leaving, and it almost feels like we’re stepping into a completely different world. “After you, Princess.”

Cy and I take the steps down hand in hand and when we reach the bottom, he slips his hand around my waist. “Do me a favor?” He asks, pulling me close. “Stay by me tonight. The clients that come here can be pretty entitled. I don’t want anyone getting any ideas about your importance to me.”

I give him a nod and as he leads me down the final dark corridor; we round the corner and step into another world entirely.

The place screams modern luxury. All glass and chrome accents meshing with dark furnishings and plush black velvet game tables. Even the cocktail servers’ outfits fit the theme.

“Nice… uniforms?” I say, watching one of the girls walk by as the crystals dangling off her otherwise nude bikini reflect in the light.

“Be nice.” He says, wrapping his arm over my shoulder as he weaves us towards the bar. “We established the dress code long before we met you and the original girls had input in designing them.”

He has a point. The outfits are no more revealing than what you’d wear at the beach and, honestly; their outfits are pretty hot. I kind of want one for myself.

“So what’s the plan?” I ask, staring at the lines and lines of card tables.

“Well, one of his men signed up for an Omaha tournament tonight. The plan is to sit and wait until he shows his face. Then ask him a few questions.”

“That’s it?” I ask.

“Sorry, P. Are you expecting a little more excitement?”

I give him a shrug.

“How about I let you drive home?”

“I want excitement, Cy, not a horrific death.”

“Fair enough.”

We take a seat towards the back of the bar, so I can stay out of view and Cyrus orders us a couple of cocktails as I scan the crowd.

“Relax, tiger.” He jokes, sliding me a mixed drink with a slice of fresh pineapple hanging on the rim. “We’re just here to talk to someone.”

I give him a smile and shake my head.
