The bell rang, and she sighed.
“Um…my first class is on the other side of campus. But I’ve seen you around during my lunch period. Is it okay if I find you then?”
I nodded. “Sure.”
Hannah left, and then Melissa looked at me with a raised brow.
“Um, you do realize you just agreed to be friends with one of the people who helped spread all those rumors around, right?”
“I know. But everyone deserves a second chance. Look at Braden,” I pointed out.
“Okay,” she said slowly. “If you think she meant it, I’ll give her a chance. But she saysone wordagainst you, and I’m not going to censor myself.”
I chuckled. “I wouldn’t expect you to. See you in Physics?”
She groaned and gave me a hug. “Don’t remind me. Later.”
As soon as she left, I turned to Ian, and he laughed as he kissed my forehead.
“You know you’re a much better person than I am, right?”
I shook my head. “Not true. You’re the best person I know, Ian. And that’s why I love you.”
