“Stealing my thunder now, are we?”

I smiled as I looked into those rich, deep brown eyes, wondering how I could ever have thought they’d looked like black holes. “I always told you I’d ask you out if I ever actually wanted to date you.”

“You’re making this a very unromantic start, there, Barlow.”

“Shut up and kiss me, boyfriend.”

His eyes shone. “With pleasure, girlfriend.”

He dropped the boom box and pulled me close. His arms wrapped around my body like he was never going to let me go. Personally, I was fine with that.

A huge cheer went up behind us and we broke apart with a laugh. I buried my face in his shoulder.

“If you bite me again…” he muttered, kissing my hair.

“You kinda love it.”

“I kinda love you.”

“I kinda love you, too.”

He hugged me tight. “Shall we blow this popsicle stand?”

I nodded and he helped me into the ute. “If I get suspended for this…”

“Don’t worry, Barlow, they’re not going to suspendyou.”

He dropped the boom box into the tray and we did, indeed, blow that popsicle stand.
