“I’m not the only one,” he muttered in return with a knowing look.

Kjar flinched and his hair recoiled en mass. Holding in a smirk, Rook shoved Kjar’s shoulder and moved around him to speak with the others. Now was definitely not the time to get into what he’d noticed.

“Do we have any idea if Tempest is here yet?” Rook asked.

Though he’d found her comm code by retracing the pathway she’d used to contact him, Hahn said he couldn’t get a lock on location because the signal was on a cyclical bounce. It constantly pinged from one spot to another never staying in place for longer than a few seconds.

“It’s a genius program,” Hahn had said in awe.

Dorian removed a crystal cube from his pocket and set it on the middle of the table. Holding up his hands and spreading his fingers, the portable holo screen activated and an image of Tempest’s profile appeared front and center.

Rook moved to take a seat, barely noticing the others do the same. He stared at Tempest’s face and desire stirred, surprising him. He hadn’t expected to react at all now that he knew how she really looked. Yet, as the others asked questions and talked, he found himself caught in the same influx of emotions. Worry, concern and the ever growing need to protect.

“We haven’t confirmed her presence on Pi Vista but there’s a strong possibility she could be using another identity,” Hahn said.

“Our goal is to keep Jarad safe,” Rook reminded them.

“Don’t forget the retrieval or kill order,” Kjar put in.

Rook shot him a glare. “That is not priority. We’re going to protect Jarad and make sure he’s alive and well when Alliance representatives come to transport him for the next phase of their plan.”

“Agreed,” Hahn said, followed by Dorian.

“Agreed,” Kjar replied, meeting Rook’s gaze. “We’ll follow your lead.”
