Suddenly, the last words I spoke to Saoirse repeat in my head as she closes the distance between us.“You are mine — to play with, to fuck, to shatter. I will destroy you, Saoirse, and you’ll love every second of it.”

A promise. One I have every intention to keep.

“Well, well, well…if it isn’t the bus stop beauty,” Aodhán chimes in, pulling me from my thoughts just in time to spy the cheeky wink he directs at Saoirse, drawing her fixation away from me.

“Oh, hey.” She smiles back at him, probably seeking comfort in the familiarity of his boyish face. “It’s Aodhán, right?”

“The one and only,” he teases her with a flirty smile, forcing teeth to sink into my bottom lip.

“Seems my stellar direction telling worked out for you.” He motions between Beibhinn and Liam, and a smile widens on Saoirse’s face.

“They did. Thanks again.”

“It’s not a problem, doll.” He briefly flicks his eyes towards me, his bright blues shimmering with mischief as he wiggles his brow at me. That little manoeuvre has my insides bubbling with molten rage, but I don’t feed into his subtle taunt and instead remain stoic.

He’s trying to rile me, and the fucker knows me well enough to understand his baiting is working, even if I’m not outwardly showing it.

“So, Beibhinn…” Hannah pipes up. “Are you going to introduce us to yourlittle friend?”

Beibhinn’s eyes rage at the condescension dripping from Hannah’s words. Unfazed by the murderous glare, Hannah roams her hand over my chest before settling her head on my shoulder, undoubtedly trying to stake her claim. Any other day, I’d swat her away like the annoying little fly she is, but the glimmer of disdain shining back at me from Saoirse’s annoyed features has me unmoving.

A part of me loves that she’s so affected by the attention Hannah is giving me, and like the sociopathic fucker I am, I feed off it.

Tipping my chin, I bring my lips closer to Hannah’s neck, speaking loud enough for mo bhanríon to hear. “Let’s go, babe. Kings don’t waste their time entertaining useless pawns.”

Nor do they allow anyone to disrespect their queen.

Without hesitation, I turn on my heel, Hannah mindlessly following my lead, as I knew she would. Then, guiding us both towards the entrance of KS, I force myself further away from the watchful eyes scorching into my back. Then, right before I push through the stone-arched doorway, I throw one last look over my shoulder, challenging her with a burning glance of my own.

Feicim thú ag breathnú, mo bhanríon. Gach uair a bheidh tú réidh, beidh mé ag fanacht.I see you watching, my queen. Whenever you’re ready, I’ll be waiting.
