“You look different. You’re not glowing like you always do.”

“Damn. I thought I’d put enough makeup on,” Luna teased.

“Ha ha, and that’s not it. With your face, you don’t need makeup.”

“Like you don’t. It’s so good to see you.” With brown hair and eyes, Charlie wore a long flowing skirt and fitted top and looked relaxed and happy.

When was the last time she’d felt that way?

“What’s wrong, Luna?”

She’d known this woman seven years. A chance meeting when she’d approached Charlie’s investment firm to represent her had pushed them together. Charlie had arrived at their appointment with dark bags under her eyes, looking sad and fragile. It had taken a simple question from Luna for everything to change.

Are you all right? Those simple words had cracked opened the dam inside Charlie. She’d burst into tears, and when she was done, they had found themselves hugging. The rest was history.

They’d been friends ever since.

She’d shared more of herself with Charlie than she had with anyone beside Hugo.

“Nothing. I’m just so pleased to be here with you.” She hugged her friend again.

“Move with L.K. is going amazingly well.”

“It is,” Luna said with more enthusiasm. “And the face oil is getting amazing reviews too.”

“‘Natural’ is the new buzz word that everyone is jumping on,” Charlie said.

“It is, but I want this to be that and more. I’m passionate about growing my products in the L.K. line slowly and keeping them completely natural.”

“I got some of that oil, actually. Can you tell?” Charlie tilted her face.

“Yes, but you’re beautiful anyway. I brought some for you. I have it in my bag.”

Charlie clapped her hands like a little girl. “Gimme!”

Luna laughed, and it felt good.

“Before we go out to dinner, can we make a detour?” Charlie said. “I need to call into Tea Total to see Miss Marla. It’s her birthday, and Mandy, her niece, is throwing a party.”

“I saw the teacup sign. Very cute. You could go to your party and then I’ll meet you at the Lodge if you want?”

“The Robbins sisters absolutely adore you, Luna, and would be totally buzzed if you came.”

“Sure, I can come if you want me to.”

“No pressure, and I don’t want you to feel you have to. This is your vacation; you don’t have to do anything but rest. But you’ll like them, I promise. Plus, that shop isn’t making them very happy at the moment.”

Luna followed her friend’s finger.

“Why?”

“It’s a chocolate shop. They will sell hot chocolate and pastries, so it will be in direct competition,” Charlie said.

“Really? This town isn’t big enough for both?”

“You sound like a gunfighter, and yes, it is, but they’re a bit sensitive about it.”

“About a chocolate shop? Don’t they sell tea?”
