Bruster pointed to a shoe rack. “You should find a pair that fits you.”

Luckily, he had on loafers. Chance toed out of them and chose a pair of black slippers in his size. They looked brand new. He continued to hold his camera bag and tripod.

“Right this way, sir,” Bruster said.

The butler led him out of the foyer into a formal living room. The floors were so clean he could eat off of them, and the furniture looked expensive. Bruster took him down a long hallway before finally stopping at a door. He knocked.

“Come in,” a familiar voice said.

Bruster entered first and announced him. “Mr. Richards is here.”

Chance entered the parlor. It had the same type of furniture like the living room… overstuffed French Provincial. The guy with the beautiful smile sat on one of the sofas. His cute nephew Jaden lay in his playpen.

“Come on in, Chance,” Derek said.

Bruster closed the door.

“Look, Jaden. It’s the nice photographer from the park.”

The baby giggled.

Chance chuckled. “Hey, big boy.”So, the guy’s rich, big deal. That didn’t make him less cute. Derek had changed into another pair of slacks, a white shirt, and a navy and white cardigan sweater. He had on a pair of white sandals.

Derek pointed to the chair across from him. “Please have a seat.”

Chance put his camera and tripod on the floor and sat down in a chair across from Derek.

“Welcome to my home.”

“Thank you,” Chance said, looking around. Everything from the carpet to the drapes spoke of class. “Oh, before I forget.” He dug into his camera case and pulled out a bottle of wine and handed it to Derek.

“Thank you. I’ll make sure Edna serves this with dinner.”

“Edna?”

“The cook.”

“Of course,” Chance said.

Derek chuckled. “That look is priceless.”

“What look?” Chance asked.

“The one you’re wearing. I’ve seen it before when people come here for the first time.” Someone knocked at the door. “Come in,” Derek said.

The door opened and a young woman entered. “I’ve come for the baby.”

“Is she your sister?” Chance asked.

Derek shook his head. “This is Harriet, Jaden’s nanny.”

“I thought you said you didn’t have a babysitter for tonight?”

“I didn’t at the time. Harriet’s been away taking care of her ailing mother. She just returned about an hour ago,” Derek said.

“Nice to meet you, Harriet,” Chance said to the comely woman. He checked out her red hair, green eyes, and long, shapely legs.

“Nice to meet you, sir.”
