And a small part of me relished in that fact.

He and Finn wore casual clothes, jeans and shirts but they hung strangely. Their usually kept hair was messy and everyone in this room, including me, looked as if sleep was about to force itself onto us at any second.

Dex stepped forward, standing next to Finn as he looked down at me. His gaze zoned in on my bandages and the utter look of devastation filled his expression which resulted in that deep pit inside feeling horrible again.

“Harlow...” he finally said, his deep voice rough and cracked.

My stubborn self wanted to fight with him. I wanted to give him attitude or tell him something mean. But I just couldn’t. I needed him.

I needed them all.

I needed to be loved and saved.

“Hi Dex...” I whispered, watching his eyes find mine at my words.

He swallowed hard, ready to speak but the words didn’t come. In fact, no one spoke.

We just sat there in silence for God knows how long, wondering how the fuck we got here and if it would ever get better again...
