CHAPTER8

Saturday evening was soonupon us and Regina and I had decided to have a film night and finish it off with a sleepover. It was needed after today. It took me a while to calm down, my floodgates don’t normally open, but when they do I find it hard to make them stop. All the pent-up emotion, rage and hate just consumes me before I can’t do anything else but let it all out.

I heard a knock on the door, lifting my head from my textbooks my brows furrowed. I reached for my phone, it was only four p.m.

Regina was early. She wasn’t due over till seven. Pushing away from my desk, I stomped over to the door and pulled it open. My jaw hit the floor when I saw all of six-foot-tall Jude standing on the other side of the threshold.

“Jude?” Confusion laced my voice as my fingers wrapped tightly around the door handle.

“Hi,” he smiled, his gorgeous blue eyes glistening as he looked down at me, “may I come in?”

I dropped my head, stepping back so he could enter my room but leaving the door open.

“What do I owe the pleasure?” my tongue was sharp, crossing my arms across my chest and standing by the door.

He scoffed a laugh before dropping his head, his hand rubbing round the back of his clipped head. He seemed nervous.

“Your friend. Regina.” His eyes met mine as my expression softened slightly at her name. I didn’t say anything.

“Well, I kind of like her…” he dropped his hand from the back of his head and let his long arms drop by his side.

“And?” I asked the obvious. I had no idea where he was going with this.

“And…” his eyes widened for a moment as he stammered, “well, I was wondering whether you could help me ask her out or something, you know… like a date.”

I couldn’t ignore the pull at my lips, a hint of a smile crossing my face.

“A date?” I scoffed, my protectiveness of Regina overtaking me.

“Yeah, you know…”

“No,” I shook my head, sarcasm lacing my voice, “I don’t.”

“You’ve never been on a date?” Now it was his turn to smirk.

“Of course, I have been on a date, but what I mean is, I don’t understand why you suddenly want to take Regina on a date.”

“Because I like her,” he seemed confused, his eyes looking at the door momentarily.

“That’s great, it really is,” a laugh bubbles out of me. I drop my arms and step towards him. He towers over me, but I still stand close to him. “But what I am having a little trouble understanding is…” I licked my lip slowly, my eyes pinned to his. “Why suddenly now? You ignored her at the party, then your little bitch friend who quite clearly has had a bit of all of her little harem…” I nearly choked on my own words, the bile rising in my throat, but I ignored it. I didn’t want to think about Fallon being with anyone else. “After her little show at breakfast this morning, clearly acting out because Regina was in clear view…” I stilled for a moment, I felt my anger surfacing but I had to push it back down. I had to keep my cool. “Plus her little threat to my friend that she isn’t to go near you, because if she did she would make Regina’s life a living hell…” I knitted my brows together, but I didn’t pull my eyes off his beautiful blues. He really was a stunning human being.

“So, I’ll ask you my question again, Jude. Why now?”

A haunting smirk spread across his lips, his head cocking to the side as his eyes darkened but he didn’t lift them from mine. Was he trying to intimidate me? Because if he was, it wasn’t going to work. I am not scared of him or anyone else for that matter.

He rubbed his large hand over his mouth then moved it to his chin, the sound of his stubble rubbing against the course skin on his hands.

“If you think I am going to listen to Fallon for one, you are fucking mistaken.” He laughed loud, his breath smothering my face. The smell of mint and fruit floated around me, I would be lying if I said it wasn’t intoxicating. “And two,” his raspy voice pulled me back round, “I wouldn’t let Fallon near her and that little show in the breakfast hall wasn’t for Regina.” He smirked before giving me a flirty wink.

My breath caught. She did that to get a reaction from me.

“So, I’ll ask you my question again, will you help me ask her out?”

I smiled before bursting into laughter.

“Yeah, I’ll help you.” I pushed him before laughing again.

I sat in my room,my laptop ready to go, but the only difference was that now I was going to be on my own watching a film. Because I helped Jude ask Regina out.
