DAISY LAZARUS

Daisy clenchedthe blanket as Axel stalked toward her with wicked intent in his eyes. Tall, dark and virile, she fell in love with him all over again. He’d saved her when she’d thought all else was lost. If he hadn’t found her, the smoke would have killed her in that sewer.

He came for her.

And she wanted to spend the rest of her life appreciating him. Heat rose in her cheeks and she blurted, “You’re right. I need a shower.” Then she added when he didn’t stop coming, when his eyes darkened on her. “I’m all gross. You should stay away.”

“Daze,” his voice deepened. “You could be covered in shit and I wouldn’t care.”

More heat flushed her cheeks and she had to look away. “Technically, I am covered in shit.”

“Are you blushing?” he teased as he slid his hands under her legs and lifted her off the bed.

“I can walk,” she murmured. “I feel fine.”

“I think we’ve already been through this before. You’re minha margarida. That means I take care of you.”

“What does that mean, min-ha… ?” she asked as he brought them to the ensuite, turned the shower on, and undressed her.

“It means my daisy.” His lips curved slowly.

“But you called me that from the beginning.”

“I know,” he said. “I’ve always known you were mine.”

For some stupid reason, tears flooded her eyes and blurred her vision.

“Hey.” He touched her cheek. “What’s this for?”

“I don’t deserve you,” she blubbered. “You’re too good to me.”

“Daze, if you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m going to tell you again. It’s us who don’t deserve you.”

He undressed himself and then carried her into the shower. The moment her feet hit the tiles, she rushed into his arms and held tight. She squeezed until he grunted.

“This, Axel,” she said, her face smooshed against his chest, feeling his heartbeat beneath her lips. “Another thing I know for sure.”

He grabbed her hair and yanked down so she looked up at him. His eyes were full of so much emotion that she felt it echo in her heart.

“Show me,” he said darkly. “Show me how you feel. I need to be close to you. I’m not sure how much of you on death’s door I can take.”

“I’m not doing it again, I promise.”

He grinned. “Sure.”

Her brows slammed down. “Are you mocking me?”

“I’d rather fu—”

She brought his lips down to hers and speared her tongue in. He gave a long, strangled groan into her mouth and then deepened their kiss. There was no other place she felt safer than in the arms of this burly fireman. He’d walked through flames to rescue her. She’d burn the world down for him.

Within seconds they were panting and pawing at each other. He pushed her against the wall, kneaded her breasts with his hands, and then she took his long, hard cock into her fist and stroked, pleased when a string of Portuguese curses fell from his lips.

Perfect.

He tried to take control of their lovemaking, but she wrenched it back, loving their dynamic, loving that he didn’t treat her like a wilting flower. She bit his lip and he growled. He lifted her by the thighs and pushed her hard against the tiled wall. But despite his rough and ready actions, he held her gaze captive and entered her in a slow, torturous slide that shuddered sensation through Daisy’s entire body.

Her eyes rolled at the bliss.
