“But…”

“But…it’s not a good idea.”

He let out a quick, sharp laugh. “Not a good idea? Sadie, I’m more than willing to discuss this issue with you. But you’re going to have to offer a little more of a retort than that.”

“Because I’m still very attracted to you,” I said, looking him right in the eye. “And I’m worried that if we’re living together, that…will complicate things.”

He regarded me with a strange expression that seemed to suggest he didn’t understand what I was talking about.

But then his expression turned, changing from one of mild confusion to one of intensity, of hunger. The way he looked at me then wasn’t like that of my best friend’s dad, a man who I needed to work with to platonically solve the strange situation we’d found ourselves in.

No. He didn’t look at me like that at all.

The way he looked at me was more like that of a man who wanted to wrap his arms around me, carry me over to the kitchen table, and bend me over on top of it. I felt as if each of us were there for one another’s pleasure alone. Every second that passed in silence, his eyes on me, made me wetter and wetter.

I wanted him like crazy.

Finally, he stepped over to me, closing the distance until mere inches were between us. Noah leaned in.

And I didn’t lean back.
