“That’s because I love fucking you, Parker.”
I look up into his eyes and see the ever-present lust in those moss-green depths.
We take a jog on our way back to our little cottage with the luck of not being spotted by anyone.
The cottage that we’re in is cute and old with dark wooden furnishings, a king-size bed already made up with light blue sheets, and a comforter.
A flatscreen t.v. is hooked onto the wall in front of the bed and just below is a small bar fridge.
Our skin is dry from the jog except for our hair, so we just strip off once again and climb into bed.
Hudson grabs two beers from the fridge and hands me one, before switching the t.v. on to some cooking show.
We go through the channels looking for something good to watch, but we find sitcom after sitcom, so he lowers the t.v. volume and turns to me instead.
“It was a good day,” he says, reaching out and running his fingers through my hair.
“It was. Thank you for bringing me here.”
“So, listen.” Hudson sits up. “I have an idea. It’s a little crazy, but I want to ask you something, so just hear me out, okay?”
“Okay,” I say slowly, not sure where this is going.
“I think we should move in together. I know it’s too soon and everything, but I feel like it would be good,” he says, watching me closely as his words sink in.
I stare at him for a few seconds not quite sure of what to say, because I’m not sure I heard him right.
“You want us to move in together?”
He nods. “Yes. I really want to live with you.”
“Wait, first of all, where would we move to?”
“The penthouse,” he says as though he thought about all of this through.
“I don’t know,” I say honestly because I really don’t know what else to say.
“If you don’t want to—”
“No, don’t get me wrong, I’d love to. I just want some time to think about this, is that okay?”
“Yeah,” he says, taking my hand in his. “But don’t take too long.”
I press my head against his chest as a rerun of X-Files comes on and spend the rest of the evening thinking about what Hudson said and leaving Lex, before drifting off to sleep.
