ZACH

Ipush the key to my suite into the concealed port of the elevator. When I bought The Ritz, I hired Kings Security, a reputable company in St. Peppers, to take care of the security of the building.

Among other things, they installed this port to make sure no guest found themselves on the top floor. There are only a handful of these keys, and they cannot be replicated.

My steps halt at the landing as I notice a woman, scantily dressed, spread on the couch outside the suite doors with a champagne bottle hanging from her hand.

“Vanessa?” My skin itches under the soft cotton of the dress shirt and heat builds inside me. “How did you get in?” I approach her with careful steps.

What the fuck is she doing here?

“William let me in and only after a lot of badgering. He then asked me to wait and didn’t even invite me inside.” She stands, swaying and pointing to the front door of my suite.

She is dead drunk.

“He shouldn’t have allowed you in here.” I’m ready to call my butler when Vanessa places her hand over mine.

“Don’t,” she says with a hint of embarrassment. “I told him you had a bad day and are struggling with anxiety.” I’m sure I have a murderous look on my face because she grimaces and stammers, “And you…need to get the anger out by…spending the night with me.”

“Van!” I seethe, grinding my teeth to a point that my jaw hurts. “What the hell is wrong with you? How can you humiliate me in front of my staff?”

“You act like he doesn’t know, Zach. Are you that stupid?” She shrugs nonchalantly.

I’m not stupid. I know my butler is aware of how I spend four nights every week. I wouldn’t be surprised if the entire hotel staff knows about it.

I’m not fooling anyone or pretending to be a saint. I enjoy sex and everything about it; rough, soft, foreplay, climax, and everything else in between and beyond. I don’t have a type. I like my women in all forms, shy and brazen, soft and petite. What I don’t like is Vanessa publicizing to my staff that I need to get the anger out by fuckingher.

“Get the hell out of here, Van, before I forget we’re friends.”

“I’m not going anywhere. I know you had a bad day, okay.” She throws herself at me, grabbing the lapels of my jacket with the bottle in her hand pressing into my chest.

“Vanessa, I can’t do this anymore.” I try to restrain my anger and push her away, but she presses her breasts to my chest and moves her hand to the front of my pants, lazily rubbing my half-hard cock.

“I don’t think so.” Her lazy voice is filled with winning pride.

I clasp her wrists, attempting to stop her motion but don’t remove her hand from my growing erection. I’m ashamed of myself for being hard.

A vicious, victorious smile pulls on her lips. She knows she has me where she wants me.

When I look away from her haughty face, which jacks up the shame I’m feeling deep inside, she says, “You can do everything, Zach.” Her mouth lands on top of mine. Her kiss is frenzied, without any art. It’s hurried, loud, and sloppy.

My meager control begins to slip as she aggressively pushes my jacket off my shoulders. Sweat beads form on my forehead and upper lip as she hastily undoes my shirt buttons. When she draws my shirt open and her nails drag across my chest and nipple, I finally snap.

This fucking woman!

I pull her closer, roughly pulling her hair just enough to cause her pain and she groans. “Why, Van? Why do you do this to me?”

She knows my control is razor thin.

“Forget the why, Zach. I want it rough today,” Vanessa says, pulling her mouth away from mine and licking my neck.

I close my eyes and smell her alcohol-laden breath mixed with the Chanel perfume. For a second, I lose my focus and my mind starts to chase that freedom, that relief, that emptiness, before it drifts to Ray’s face when I dropped him in front of his house. My attention is immediately pulled back when Vanessa fumbles with my belt buckle.

I look down at my wasted friend of years. She looks the same, yet so different.

I was with her on our first day of high school together.

I was with her when she had her first heartbreak, after she broke up with the captain of our school’s football team.
