“Oh my God! You’ve been scaring off my dates,” she accused, her arms crossing over her chest.

Flashing lights illuminated the night as a police car tore around the corner and stopped in front of us.

“We aren’t done talking about this,” she warned.

Yeah, I kind of knew that was going to happen.

The cops took the attacker and shoved him into the back of the squad car, then took Abigail and my statements. I gave the officer my card and told him to call me if there were any other questions.

Once Abigail and I were alone together, she let me lead her to her car. I took her keys, helped her inside and drove her home. The ride was silent, but I could almost feel the questions gathering around her and knew I didn’t have much longer before she exploded at me.

I deserved every ounce of anger she had. I just hoped I hadn’t ruined everything.
