“Protect me, I know. It’s suffocating.”
“Well, stand up to them. I know someone who can teach you how,” I say, shooting a look in the direction of my girl.
“Do we need two of them?” Toby asks lightly, trying to insert some humour into our conversation.
“You guys need more than two of us,” Calli states confidently.
“Okay, I’m ready,” Stella announces, passing me one of the bags she packed while Toby takes the other.
“Let’s get the fuck out of here.”
Toby goes first, and I gesture for both Calli and Stella to go ahead of me.
Galen and Calvin are standing at the bottom of the stairs when we get there with less than amused looks on their faces.
“Could you give us a minute?” Stella says to me and Calli when we come to a stop.
“N-no, I don’t want—”
“I won’t hurt my daughter, Sebastian,” Galen snaps.
“It’s fine,” Toby assures me. “Go put these in the car. We’ll only be a few minutes.”
Taking a step toward Galen, I stare him dead in the eyes, daring him to fucking try anything.
He holds my stare but doesn’t say a word.
He can’t. He knows I’m right.
