“You,” I boom, surging forward and slamming him up against the wall. “This was you,” I assume, pinning him in place with my forearm against his throat.

He doesn’t make a move to retaliate, not that I’m shocked. Daemon isn’t really a fighter, but it’s more because I know he’s guilty.

He’s the only one who knew. He’s the only one who could have helped her get out of this.

“Why the fuck would you do this?”

His cold, expressionless eyes stare into mine.

“Get the fuck off me, Theo,” he says, his voice low and deadly.

“Fucking cunt. I’m going to ruin you for this.”

I get right in his face, my nose almost touching his.

“She did this herself. Stop trying to blame anyone else when you’re the one she wanted to get away from.”

“She’s my wife.”

“She was your prisoner. She’s allowed a choice.”

“Bullshit. She was where she was meant to be.”

“Says you. She’s half Reaper, half Cirillo. Where she falls is up to her, not you.”

“Wait,” Seb says somewhere from behind me. “Emmie is a Cirillo?”

Silence falls around the room.

“Arsehole,” I hiss at Daemon, whose lips curl into a smug grin.

“Why don’t you ask Theo what else he’s been lying about recently.” He lifts a brow, glancing between me and my best friend over my shoulder.

“Theo?”

Releasing Daemon, I take a huge step back and suck in a breath.

“She’s your cousin, okay?”

His eyes widen. “M-my cousin?”

“Your grandfather was related to her grandfather.”

His lips part to say something, but he doesn’t find any words for long, tense seconds.

“And you thought I didn’t need to know this?”

“I was going to tell you once everything was dealt with.”

“What’s everything?” he booms.

Daemon laughs. “Oh, this should be good.”

“Shut the fuck up,” I sneer.

“Damien has had Emmie’s mum locked up for stealing. Emmie’s mum blamed Emmie for it, so as punishment she found herself married to this arsehole.”

“What the actual fuck?”
