“All this… you… it’s crazy.”

“Just enjoy it,” he says before capturing my lips and letting me taste myself mixed with tequila on his tongue.

“You gonna share that tequila, or are you the only one getting to have some fun tonight?”

I still have no idea how long the journey was here—I haven’t so much as glanced at a clock—but the dark night sky when I first opened my eyes told me I was asleep for quite a while.

“Oh, I’m all for sharing the fun, Demon.”

He smirks before releasing me, reaching behind him and pulling his hoodie off in one sexy move.

“Holy shit, Toby.”

I’m off the counter and on my feet before my body has even registered the movement.

My hands land gently on his sides and I take in the angry bruising on his ribs.

“Doesn’t this hurt?” I ask, gently running my fingertips over the dark purple marks.

“A little,” he confesses, threading his fingers into my hair. “I know what might help take my mind off it while you’re down there, though,” he quips.

“You should be in fucking bed healing, not… not… that,” I say, waving my hand behind me at the counter I was just sprawled out on.

“There’s only one thing I want to be doing in a bed, Demon. And I can assure you, it’s not resting.”

He tugs on my hair, forcing me to stand back up.

“I’m fine, baby. Fully functioning and more than up for the challenge of getting you out of your own head.”

To prove his point, he steps closer, ensuring his hard length presses against my stomach.

“Is there a bath in this place? You need to do something about all this, Toby. I need to clean you up and make sure you don’t need stitches.”

“I don’t. This isn’t my first rodeo, Demon. I promise you I’m…”

“What?” I ask, my heart jumping into my throat, thinking that something is wrong.

He holds my eyes for a beat and panic floods me, but then a truly filthy smile splits across his face.

“I’ve got the perfect thing.”

My brows pinch before he sweeps me off my feet.

“Toby, no,” I argue, trying to twist out of his arms. “Your ribs.”

“It only hurts when you fight,” he tells me, but he’s lying. I can hear it in his tone.

“Liar,” I hiss. “Put me down, I can walk. Wait… where the hell are we going?” I ask when he marches toward a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows. “No, it’s freezing out there,” I squeal as he pulls the door wide, allowing the bitter air to flow over my heated skin.

Without batting an eye at the cold, he marches across the deck and around the corner. The soft lighting from around the cabin allows him to see where he’s going, and the second my eyes land on a sunken covered square tucked into the corner and sheltered by low-hanging trees, I start to understand his plan.

“Is that a—”

“Sure is, Demon. You still up for a bath?”

“As long as it’s warm,” I say, my body beginning to tremble despite the heat coming from him.

“It’ll be perfect.”
