“I’m not going to agree to—”

I close the distance between us rapidly, my nose pressed against her cheek, lips whispering against the shell of her ear. “I don’t need to have a contractual agreement to fuck you, Emery. When I’m inside you—and make no mistake, I will be inside you—it will be because you begged me for it. Because, for no other reason than the sheer pleasure of it, you’ll ask me to fuck you until your eyes roll back in your head, until you taste colors and see sound. And for you, I will. All you have to do is ask.”

When I pull away, Emery doesn’t move. She’s breathing heavily, her mouth hanging open.

But she doesn’t move.

After a few minutes, she finds her words. “What do you want, then? What’s your ‘one more condition’?”

I straighten my collar. Time to clear this one last hurdle. “You know who Isabella’s father is, I assume?”

“Wha—oh, um, well… why?”

“Let me be clear: I don’t give a flying fuck who the mudak is,” I snarl. “But while we’re married, you’re not to see him. During the duration of our arrangement, you and Isabella belong to me.”

Emery stiffens protectively. “Leave her out of it.”

“Not a fucking chance,” I say. “You’re both part of this. If I see him, I will kill him.”

“There’s no one to kill,” she says quietly.

“Are you sure? Don’t lie to me and don’t overestimate your own abilities. Because last time we spoke, you seemed to think you could handle Malcolm all on your own.”

“That was—”

“You fail to recognize the danger of the men in your life,” I continue. “And I like to account for every possibility when I plan.”

“Well, strike him from the record,” she snaps. Her eyes dart nervously to the sleeping Isabella and she takes a deep breath. “He isn’t in the picture. Never has been. And if he was? Honestly, I’d let you kill him.”

She’s nervous again, fidgeting in the seat, casting her eyes downward. I don’t mind making her nervous. In fact, unraveling Emery might be my new favorite hobby.

But I don’t like the idea that another man has her scared.

“You’re positive?”

Emery sits up straight. “He won’t be a problem. It’s… it’s just me and Isabella. It always has been.”

She’s keeping something from me. But it’s fine. I have my own ways of getting information.

And when I figure out who hurt Emery, I’ll deal with him accordingly.

No one touches what’s mine.
