“Of course he is. Vena knows what she’s doing, even if she takes her time revealing the right path to us.”

Christopher stepped closer. “I want to hear good news when you two reach Silvar.”

Renn lifted his gaze to where Simon stood with Dash. “Planning a joint mate vow ceremony, little brother?”

“We’re not talking about me and Dash. All I mean is you two belong together. I want to see you act like it.”

Renn chuckled. “Don’t worry. When you see us again, there’ll be no doubt he’s mine.”

“Good. He’s waited long enough.”

Renn’s expression softened, and he nodded in affirmation. “He has, and I love him all the more for it.”

Christopher grinned. “Nice to hear you say it.” He poked Renn in the ribs on the side opposite his injury. “Make sure you say it to him.”

“You tend to your mate and let me tend to mine.”

“Deal,” Christopher said softly before walking over to the others.

He and Dash mounted their horses and said goodbye. As they made their way down the road, Christopher looked back twice, only to see Simon and Renn standing in the same position and watching them.

“Did you expect them to pounce on each other the moment we turned our backs?” Dash asked.

“No. Of course not.” Christopher started to look back again but stopped himself. “Renn said everything will be fine. That there’ll be no doubt Simon is his when we see them again.”

“Good.”

Christopher looked over at Dash. “You’ve seemed preoccupied since last night. What did you two talk about?”

“Not much. He said my vibrations are good. Whatever that means.”

“It’s a dragon thing. He’s always had good instincts about who to trust and all that.” Christopher shifted in his saddle and adjusted his hold on the reins. “He didn’t threaten you?”

“No. He said we have his blessing. That he’s glad you have someone to rely on.”

Christopher smiled. “I’m glad too.”

“You think he and Simon will get things worked out?”

“I hope so.”

“He said he had one final thing to tell Simon before he could claim him. You know what he’s talking about?”

Christopher frowned. “No. I can’t think of anything about him Simon doesn’t already know.”

“He did say it’s something no one else knows about. Something very personal. I took the hint and didn’t pry.”

“Hmmm. That’s interesting.”

“That I didn’t pry?” Dash said with a chuckle.

Christopher laughed too. “No. That there’s something none of us know.”

“No ideas, huh?”

“No. None.”

“I guess we’ll find out next week when they join us.”
