“Don’t change the subject.”

“I’m not. It’s a genuine question.” Simon glanced up. “If you go to his room tonight, he’s going to take it as an invitation.”

“An invitation?”

Simon rolled his eyes. “To consummate things. You agreed to let him tag along. I’m sure he thinks things are heading that way. It’s your business, but you need to set him straight if you aren’t sure.”

Christopher hesitated, and not just because the idea of taking relationship advice from Simon after the conversation they’d just had infuriated part of him. He usually told Simon everything, but he hadn’t told his friend that he and Dash had already consummated their relationship. Multiple times. In fact, they’d been naked and tangled in each other’s arms, enjoying the afterglow of two rounds of frenzied, lust-driven sex before they’d even learned each other’s names. The pull had been immediate. One minute, Christopher had been undressing in hopes of taking a quick dip in the lake to the north of the palace, and the next minute, he’d been watching a muscular god emerge from the water a mere ten feet away from him. They’d stared at each other for the longest time, and then Dash had drawn Christopher into his arms, taking a deep breath and whispering the wordminebefore kissing him and pulling him into the water.

“Are you a virgin?” Simon asked.

“What?” Christopher said, his head whipping up.We can’t talk about why you won’t even stand close to the man you claim to love, but you think it’s fine to ask me that?

“You’re sitting there staring at the rug with a dazed look on your face, and your cheeks are bright red, just like they were when I caught you two kissing. Be honest with him. If he truly cares for you, he’ll be patient.”

“I think I need some air,” Christopher said. He moved to the door and unbolted it, exiting before Simon could say anything else.
