“I know who you are. What I don’t understand is what could the son of an American billionaire possibly want with me?”

“We’ve been watching you for a long time, Mr.Cohen, and thought we should talk.”

“Talk. Right. Is this why you sent a Navy Seal after me?”

“Don’t mind him. I sent him to make sure you were a good fit.”

“A good fit for what?”

“How about you lower that gun you have on my friend before we get into that? I promise you that what we have to say will be worth your while and more.”

With a certain dose of reticence, Angel Cohen did as he was asked and slowly placed his weapon in its holster.

“Talk. What do you want?” he barked out.

“I’m assembling a private army. It will consist of the best soldiers in the world,” I told him.

“Not interested. I’m already part of an army. I don’t need another one.”

“Right, and how is the investigation going? Would you like to place a friendly wager that it will never see the light of day?” Cohen’s nostrils flared at Gabe’s quip.

“Your time is almost up. If I were you, I’d talk fast.”

“What do you know about Colin Baxter?” I asked him.

Cohen frowned. “He comes from one of the richest families in the world. Net worth over twenty billion, most of it is invested in oil and military and non-military armament.”

“That is only part of his cover. Baxter’s money goes back several generations, and is deeply rooted in the black market, whether it be prostitution, gambling, drugs, or organ trade,” I listed.

“I don’t see what this has to do with me.”

“Don’t you? I’m offering you an opportunity, Mr.Cohen. Call it a chance at redemption.” This from Winthrop.

“Get to the point, asshole.”

“We’re going after the people behind your sister’s kidnapping.”

“What the fuck did you just say?”

I swore when Cohen pulled out his gun again and aimed it at me. Gabe and his big mouth.

“Easy,” I hissed.

“Talk, now.”

“Colin Baxter is the head of the American Chapter of the Network,” I told him somberly.

Cohen frowned and lowered his gun. “Is this a joke?”

“I can assure you, we are very serious, Mr.Cohen.”

“The Network doesn’t exist.”

“You know better than that. You’ve seen them. Unbeknown to you, you even interacted with some of them.” Gabe smiled coldly.

“Listen fucker, if the Network existed, I would know.”

“Unless you’re not high up enough in the food chain, that is.”
