From: Dr. Priscilla Beddingfield

Good morning Commander,

I hope this communication finds you well. As per General Baxter’s request, we have proceeded with the testing of the second dose of the RX-1 drug on human subjects following the successful completion of phase one.

You will find enclosed a report which contains my observations following a twelve-hour study period.

As you can see, all the patients injected with the second dose of RX-1 showed signs of increased strengths and brain activity.

We note, however, that a lengthy exposure to the serum causes extreme aggressiveness, hallucination, and paranoia in the subjects.

Three of the ten soldiers injected with the drug attacked and killed a teammate. Furthermore, patient one-one-two repeatedly banged his head against the wall because he believed spiders were crawling out of it.

A large dose of sedative had to be given to these men to calm down. We are waiting for their wakening to see if the medication will have any ill effect.

It is my recommendation that we suspend testing on human subjects until the serum’s formula can be improved, and further testing shows conclusive results.

I bit my nails and nervously wondered what I just stumbled into.

The safest thing would have been to turn off my computer and leave all this crap behind. There were ten more files in the folder, and only God knew what else I would find.

But I couldn’t. What if somebody needed help?

A message appeared on my computer just as I was about to click on a subfolder.

I C U.

Thinking someone was in the library with me, I jumped from my chair and looked everywhere in panic.

But everything was as it should be, and reason prevailed as I sat back down. I told myself I had nothing to worry about. The program I designed was strong, it got me in without being detected, and would cover my tracks after I left.

Still, I replied to the message with trembling fingers.

W R U?

Winthrop Financial personnel wouldn’t have bothered warning me they were aware I was there. They would have just shut me down and blocked all access to the files. So, odds were, I was talking to another hacker.

The person confirmed this a couple of seconds later when the picture of a hawk appeared followed by several U.

Who was I? Now that was a good question. What would be a good code name for me? I looked around and noticed the map of the Orion constellation hanging on the wall. Perfect.

Orion.

Why are you trying to access Winthrop’s mainframe, Orion?

For fun. You?

I wanted to get the hell out of there ASAP, and knowing someone was watching me only increased the urgency of the situation.

I double-checked to see how the downloading was going, but sadly, I was only halfway done. There was a significant amount of data on here, and it made me wonder why Winthrop had so many files.

“Come on. Hurry up.”

This is my turf. LEAVE.

The hacker’s message made me scoff because there was no way I was going to obey some random stranger. I was simply not geared that way.

I was about to click on the second folder when another message popped up.
