James frowned. “Me?”

“Doms have triggers, too,” Jack reminded him.

“Good point,” James murmured, a little abashed that he hadn’t considered the possibility. “I don’t believe so, but I’ll have to put some thought into it.”

“Do that, and it sounds like you’re on the right track. Take it slow, keep talking it out. You know the drill.”

“Yeah.” James reached out and tapped his glass against Jack’s. “Thanks.”

Jack inclined his head. “Anytime.”

“And seriously, if you want some help finding a girlfriend, I’m sure Amanda would be willing to lend a hand.”

“Don’t make me hurt you,” Jack warned, and James laughed.

“Hey,” Nick called. “Cade cheats at pool.”

Cade smirked. “You’re just mad I handle a cue better than you.”

“There’s a jerk-off joke in there somewhere,” James said drily, and pushed to his feet as Nick scowled and Jack laughed. “All right, assholes. It’s my table—I’m playing.”

“Play the cheater,” Nick said, still scowling, and handed his cue to James. “I’m going to go drink with Jack and get some ideas about how to hurt my woman.”

“What is this, ask a sadist day?” Jack wondered.

“You’re never around lately, so I’m seizing the fucking moment,” Nick settled into the chair James had just vacated. “Can I borrow your single tail?”

Jack blinked. “Since when do you know how to use a single tail?”

“I don’t. I just want to borrow it to scare Rebecca.”

Cade finished racking the balls and straightened. “She have a whip phobia or something?”

“No.”

“Then what makes you think she won’t call your bluff?”

“Shit,” Nick muttered, and turned his scowl on Jack. “Can you teach me to use a single tail?”

“I have to meet this woman,” Jack muttered.

James chalked his cue and leaned over the table to line up his shot. “Speaking of Rebecca, does she have any single, kinky friends she can introduce Jack to? He’s looking for a girlfriend.”

“No shit?” Cade leaned a hip on the table. “You thinking of giving up your subscription to the Masochist of the Month Club?”

Jack glared at James. “I’m taking my scotch back.”

James broke, the clatter of balls mingling with his friends’ laughter.
