Olivia huffed out a breath, raising a hand to smooth her short sweep of honey blonde hair as she turned to glare at the man who’d somehow managed to walk up to the bar unnoticed. “How are you so quiet?”

“Talent,” he said shortly. “Why aren’t you sitting?”

“Because I’m in service, that’s why,” Olivia shot back.

Cade’s normally cheerful expression folded into a scowl, his dark eyes flashing with an anger he rarely exhibited. He started to speak, then paused. Finally, he said, “Don’t overdo it.”

“I won’t,” Olivia said, clearly perplexed. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” he ground out, then dragged a hand over his short-cropped hair. “Nothing,” he said again, calmer this time. “Sorry.”

“It’s okay,” Olivia said, her expression clearing, though there was still a cloud of confusion in her eyes. “Are we still on for game night this week?”

“Yeah.” Cade smiled, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Wednesday night. Jason’s DMing, so be prepared.”

“Oh.” Olivia rolled her eyes a little. “Yay.”

“You know, anyone else would take that eye roll as a sign of disrespect,” Cade admonished, a twinkle in his dark eyes despite his glower.

“It was,” Olivia snorted. “For Jason.”

Cade’s grin flashed as he turned to Amanda. “Amanda, how are you?”

“I’m good, thank you, Sir,” Amanda said. “How’s your arm?”

Cade held up his right arm, the line of newly healed pink flesh bright against his darker skin. “Stitches are out, and I got the go ahead to play.”

Out of the corner of her eye, Amanda saw Olivia frown. “That’s great.”

“And about time. I’m ready to climb the walls.” He turned to Olivia. “I’m having someone bring you two chairs. When you’re not serving, sit on one with your leg up on the other.”

“But—”

“Not negotiable,” he interrupted.

She huffed out a breath. “Fine.”

Amanda bit back a laugh as Cade frowned. “Fine, what?”

“Fine, Sir. Thank you, Sir.”

“There we go.” Cade glanced at Amanda, humor dancing in his dark eyes once again. “Amanda.”

“Sir.” Amanda waited until he was out of earshot to turn to Olivia. “What wasthat?”

“What was what?” Olivia said, scowling after Cade.

“You two were flirting.”

That had Olivia’s head whipping around. “What? We were not.”

“You really were.” Amanda grinned. “How long has that been going on?”

“It hasn’t. We’re friends,” Olivia insisted. “We’re in the same gaming group, and we hang out sometimes, that’s all. It wasn’t flirting. Besides, I’m with Kyle.”

“Right. How’s that going?”

“Pretty good.” Olivia smiled. “We moved in together last month.”
