“No.” But his voice comes out a little strangled.
“Oh, shit. Are you texting her? Leigh’s friend? What’s her name?”
“Still don’t know. We decided we aren’t exchanging names… yet. But yes, we’re talking. We talked on the phone yesterday and we have a phone date tonight, if you must know.”
“That’s adorable,” I tease.
“Shut the fuck up. Like you didn’t do cute shit for Maia when you first started dating or trying to date her or whatever.”
A smirk pulls at my lips. “You really like this girl.”
He sighs. “I don’t—it’s new and I’m enjoying it, okay?”
I hold both my hands up. “Fine. For the record, though, it’s good to see you happy. Your face lit up when you looked at your phone.”
He looks at me in surprise. “Really?”
“Yeah.”
“She’s already in my head, Vin.”
I give his shoulder a smack. “Good luck with that.”
“Says the guy planning a proposal.”
“Why do you think I said good luck? That’s what happens when a girl gets in your head.”
His mouth drops slightly, and I laugh as I head for the door, leaving him to think about all that.
