“Is it time yet?”
Everyone laughs, then there’s a knock at the door. Leigh pulls it open to reveal Nick, looking dapper in his suit.
“I’m here on official best man business.” He strolls over to me and looks me up and down. “You look beautiful.” He kisses my cheek. “This is for you.”
I take the paper he’s holding out. How could I have forgotten about this part?
I grab an envelope from the nearby table and hand it to Nick.
“I’ll guard it with my life.” He winks at me and heads for the door, pausing to give Leigh a kiss and say, “Looking sexy, Señorita.” Then he whispers something else, and she giggles and shoves him toward the door.
I love watching their relationship.
As Nick leaves, my eyes drop to the note in my hand. We decided we didn’t want to do big emotional vows in front of everyone, though we did want to say them to each other. I suggested doing first looks, but Vince insisted he wanted to see me for the first time as I walked up the aisle to him. The adoration in his eyes as he said it made it impossible to say no. Instead, we decided to exchange notes with the words we wanted to say written in them.
I clear my throat and look at the wonderful women who have helped shape my life.
“If you don’t mind, I’d like to read this alone.”
“Of course, honey,” Mom says. “We’ll see you out there.” I give Harper a kiss on the cheek as my mom sweeps her into her arms. Everyone files out of the room, and I sit down at the desk.
With shaking hands, I pull the note open. This is making me more emotional than I thought I would be.
I stare at the note, enjoying the look of his handwriting before I start reading.
Yes, I even love his handwriting. It’s a cross between cursive and normal. It’s easy enough to read, but still has character.
Okay. Time to read.

I wasn’t expecting how emotional I would be writing these words to you. Of all the ways I saw my life going, marrying you wasn’t in any of them (sorry). I never had any idea that life would lead us together and intertwine us so deeply. I know we can never come undone. I love you from my soul. I can’t wait to continue building a life with you. Whatever difficulties come our way, I’m going to be standing right next to you, holding your hand. I promise to support you through every moment and allow you to comfort me. I will always open my heart to you, laugh at your ridiculous jokes, and soothe your anxiety. We have a beautiful future ahead of us, and I can’t wait to see where life takes us.
I can’t wait to see you in a few minutes, look into your eyes as I say my vows, and give you the kind of kiss you’ll never forget.

I let out a shuddery breath and close my eyes as I try to keep my tears in. I love him so much.
Rising from my chair, I tuck the note in my bag. I want to frame them both after the wedding.
But right now, I’m ready to freaking do this.
