Leigh sways slowly in my arms to a soulful love song. I’m too lost in her to recognize the lyrics.
“You seem happy,” I whisper in her ear.
She lifts her head from my shoulder and smiles at me. “Ridiculously. I watched two people I love get married today. Everyone is getting along and happy. I know all too well how quickly life can change, so I’m enjoying all the love and happiness here tonight.”
“A perfect plan, Señorita. You sure with all this love, you don’t want to get married any time soon?” I tease.
Her eyes flare. “If you tell me you have a ring, I’ll deck you.”
“Not call in a hit?” I barely contain a laugh.
Her brow furrows, and her lips pull into a flat line.
“You’re so cute when you’re worked up.” I brush my lips over her neck. “And sexy.” Just as she’s melting into it, I pull my lips away and stand up straight like I wasn’t just setting her beautiful body on fire. “Anyway, you don’t need to worry. I don’t have a ring waiting in my sock drawer—I’d never choose a ring without your help. But I did dosomething.”
“Oh?” she asks, cocking an eyebrow.
“Yes. You said you wanted to date. So, that’s what you’re going to get. I set up a rotating schedule so every other Friday either Abuelita or my parents will take Hunter and we’ll have a date night. Something not focused on Hunter or school or jobs, but us. Just us. Growing our relationship. Maybe…” I whisper some naughty things in her ear, and she gives me a steamy kiss in return.
I pull her tight to me, pressing my boner into her hip.
“See what you did? Now you have to stay like this.”
She laughs a sweet but troublemaking laugh, throwing her head back and exposing her neck as she does. I want nothing more than to sink my teeth into it.
“Believe me, baby,” she says, wrapping her arms around my neck again. “I have no desire to move. I want to drive you as crazy as you make me.”
Her lips land on my neck, and the same surge of energy rushes through me that I always feel with her.
I don’t expect this time in our relationship to be easy. We both have a lot of growing to do, all while raising a child. But that’s why I came up with the date nights. I want to make sure we find ways to take time for us. I want our foundation to be rock solid. I never want to come close to losing her ever again.
“I love you, Señorita.”
“Mm,” she breathes. “I love you too.”
Her breathy words make my dick even harder. I squeeze her ass. “Take a walk with me. Right now,” I growl in her ear.
She smirks and leads me off the dance floor.
