“What doesthatmean?’ she asked feeling the way his body responded to hers as she wrapped her legs around him.
“It means you, my sweet wife, are the only woman who can get me to respond. I can’t get aroused unless you’re around or the person I’m thinking of; you’ve completely ruined me Dani,” he teased running kisses down her forehead and towards her mouth.
“What about Estelle?”
“How did you…?”
“You went to her when we were in London a few months after we’d been married. I hated her for that,” she admitted lowering her lashes. “I hate the thought of you with anyone but me.”
“Then you shouldn’t have anything to worry about baby because there’s only been you since we met. Yes, I went to Estelle’s that night, but nothing worked until I saw a magazine of you, and I knew you’d taken everything from me.”
“You were pissed at me that night, and I was ticked that you’d gone to her.”
“Nothing happened baby, I swear.”
“Good, because I’d hate to lose you now after everything we’ve found,” she stated moving against him. “After I’ve fallen in love with you,” she added taking a huge leap.
“You’ve what?” Luke stated as his entire body tensed with hope. He stared into her eyes praying that he wasn’t imagining this and saw the truth staring back at him.
“I fell for you despite everything. It wasn’t always horrible with us, even before I told you we had some times that were great and that’s when I fell for you. I fell completely Luke and I was terrified of losing you which is why I couldn’t tell you the truth.”
“You deserve so much more than me Dani, but I can’t let you go. I can’t give you up.”
“You don’t have to, not ever,” she said showing him with her kiss how much she wished that were true. She would protect her brother and his family with everything she had still, but she couldn’t let herself wallow anymore. She would love him and let him love her for as long as the past stayed in the past. She’d stay just like this with him forever if she could.
“I love you, Dani.”
“I love you too Luke,” she replied as they flew over the edge together and didn’t come back down for a long, long time.
