“Okay, we’ve got some good news. There’s a ‘spur of the moment’ category. It says the most likely grounds would be a lack of understanding that rendered a party incapable of consent.”

“That would be me. Drunk as a skunk.”

“This has to be pretty common in Vegas.”

Della looked at the ring. “Kind of hard to prove a lack of understanding with this door stopper I’m wearing.”

“It’s a real diamond?”

“Oh, yeah.”

“Let me see.”

“Hang on.” Della opened the camera app and took a picture of her shaky hand. She sent it via text message.

“Holy shit.”

“Right?”

“Did you marry a sheik?” Micky asked. “A billionaire cowboy?”

“If only this was one of the romances I read, I’d wind up with a happily ever after.”

“Well, I don’t know how you’re going to run out on a man who spent that kind of money on you. Not without a please and thank you. Did you at least get a new wardrobe to go with it?”

Della laughed. “Right? I’ll have the manager look at the video feed, see if he can find me in the swanky boutiques waving my new husband’s platinum American Express card.”

“You sound a hundred times better. Now, get a move on. First, we need to get you dressed. Second, you need your wallet. After that, we’ll deal with the situation one step at a time.”

“Yeah, okay.” Quietly padding across the cold tile, she opened the door. In the dim lighting, she could see her bra and panties on the ottoman.

And a massive cloud of tulle.

“There’s a wedding dress on the floor,” she whispered.

“Shh. Don’t wake him up.”

She glanced at the bed, but the person was hidden under a fluffy mound of pillows and down. “I can’t see him at all. Not even his hair color.”

“His clothes, though? Do you see an expensive suit?”

“No, but I see my purse.”

“Get it.”

“It’s on the other side of the bed.”

“You are never getting black-out drunk again.”

“No kidding.”

“Get the purse,” Micky said. “Go.”

“Fine, but I have to get off the phone, or I’ll wake him up.” Della knew how to have a good time, but she’d never gotten herself into this kind of trouble before.

“Call me as soon as you’re out of there.”

“I will.” Disconnecting, she slid the phone into the pocket of the terry cloth robe. As she tiptoed across the room, she couldn’t even hear him breathing.
