I rest my head against Noel’s shoulder, feeling warm and smiley as his arms wrap around me. Kristoff’s just finishing telling a hilarious story about my dad rescuing Braddock McCreed’s Land Rover from the quickly incoming tide at Brighton, after they’d driven it out on the beach.

“And then, bloody Rebecca storms up saying ‘Thomas!’”

Even Noel chuckles at Kristoff’s alarmingly good impression of Julianna’s fairly awful mother and Braddock’s now ex-wife.

“Thomas! What of all the sand in the cracks, Thomas!?”

Noel’s chest rumbles under my head, his hand stroking my side.

Kristoff shakes his head.

“I believe that woman’s problem was that shealwayshad sand in the cracks.”

I snort a giggle before suddenly, I yawn.

“I should go,” Kristoff smiles, putting his wine glass down. “And let you both sleep.”

“Oh, no, please.” I smile, yawning again as I stand from the loveseat. “I’m sure you both have plenty of things to catch up on. Don’t let me turning into a pumpkin ruin the fun.”

Noel’s brow furrows.

“I’ll bring you up—”

“I think I can manage,” I grin.

I lean down to kiss his cheek. But suddenly, he’s cupping my face, kissing me slowly and deeply. I want to cringe, knowing we’re right there in front of one of my father’s best friends. But the longer he kisses me, the more I sink into it. So much so that when he does pull away, it takes me a second to snap out of the trance.

I turn, quickly blushing hotly when I see Kristoff smirking at us.

“Okay, okay, fine.” He sighs, leaning back in his chair. “You get my seal of approval.”

“I don’t believe I was remotely interested in looking for that,” Noel grunts at him.

“No, but Ella was, in a way.” He arches a brow. “Yes?”

I frown, thinking about that for a second.

“No, actually,” I shrug. “I wasn’t. But that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate it.”

Kristoff smiles.

“There’s so much Thomas in you, you know.”

He stands, putting a hand out, which I shake warmly.

“It was a pleasure seeing you again, Ella.”
