“Alright, fair enough. I’ll be parked out front, though, when you’re looking for a ride home.”

“You’re the best. Thank you, Liam.”

I open the door and then lean back in.

“I’ll tell Harry you say hi?”

“I can think of some more colorful messages to pass on.”

I grin, stepping out and shutting the door. I head down the block, rounding the corner and seeing the alley behind The Slipper up ahead. I’m just about there when a dark black car pulls up next to me. The door opens just as I turn.

Oliver Prince steps out.

My skin crawls, my blood turning cold as I whirl on him with fury in my face.

“You stay thefuckaway from—”

“Ella,please, I need to—”

“No, what youneed todo is stay the goddamn hell away from me,” I hiss, my eyes narrowing at him.

“You used me. You fucking manipulated me—”

“I showed you the truth—”

“You showed me a fucking story!” I bark at him. “You showed me the narrative I wanted to see so that you could weaponize my anger and my loss for your own fucking gain, trying to get Noel’s company.”

His eyes narrow.

“I could remind you, Ella, that it wasyouwho reached out tomein order to facilitate my getting into that boardroom in the first place.”

“Believe me, I have regrets.”

“Like sleeping with the man who killed you—”

“Ohenoughalready!” I roar, loud enough that it seems to shock him back a step. “Enough, Oliver!”

“I know you don’t trust me.”

“I wonder fucking why, Oliver?!”

I whirl towards the back door of the pub. Away from this bullshit. Away from his manipulations, and his trying to keep me pinned in the middle of this war between him and Noel.

“Ella,stop—”

“Go to hell, Oliver. And stay the fuck away from—”

“Your father was one of my closest goddamn friends in the world, Ella.”

I halt, seething, pulsing with anger. I half-turn, my eyes narrowing at him.

“He was one of my best fucking friends.Please.I amnottrying to hurt you, or use you, or manipulate you.”

I start to roll my eyes.

“Are you looking for proof? Here.” He yanks a folded piece of paper out of his jacket pocket and shoves it toward me.

“My attorneys will be forwarding this to Noel and the rest of the board tomorrow. I’m selling him back my shares of Ransom Holdings, at the price I paid.”
