I swallow.

“I…”

He turns into me, his lips brushing my ear.

“Just say you’ve seen a friend,” he growls.

I nod, meeting his eyes before turning back to the three marks.

“I’m afraid I’ve just seen an old friend,” I smile at them. “But it waslovelyto meet you all.”

Of course, they all bow and stumble over themselves to tell me how “charmed” they all were to meet me as well. I turn to leave, but then all of a sudden, Noel’s hand is around my hip again, teasing me, pulling me close. Before suddenly, he’s dipping his mouth.

His lips sear to mine, stealing the punishing kiss from my mouth. My heart surges. My body melts into his. His tongue delves deep, demanding more.

Taking it all.

When he slowly pulls away, the world spins around me. Our eyes lock.

“Say hello to your friend for me, won’t you?” he purrs.

I just nod, blushing fiercely as I turn and bolt blindly through the crowd. I make it about halfway across the lavish ballroom, before I literally crash into someone’s back.

“Shit, I am so sorry—”

I blink as the charming, blond, handsome face of Jacob Prince turns to grin at me.

“Ella,” he smiles easily. “I could have sworn our meeting wasn’t for another week or so.”

I grin, my face red.

“Joking, of course,” he laughs. “You came with Noel, I assume?”

It’s a sign of how much of a horny mess I am that my first thought for a response is “no, he wouldn’t let me, because he’s a giant teasing bastard.”

I swallow the heat from my face.

“I did, yes. He’s…” I gesture somewhere behind me.

Jacob chuckles.

“I find these thingsincrediblystuffy. It seems so antiquated, everyone getting all dressed and stuffed and meeting in person just to… what, tell each other how important and rich we are?”

I grin, rolling my eyes.

“Oh, I don’t know. I thought I would hate it, but it’s actually kind of nice to be here. It’s nice to feel fancy and old fashioned sometimes.”

He nods slowly. “Interesting take. I like it.”

“Thanks.”

He glances down at my empty flute.

“I think your glass has sprung a leak.”

I grin as he turns, gesturing to a waiter who instantly brings a tray of champagne over. Jacob clinks his fresh glass to mine.

“To a bright future, and a fantastic partnership.”
