“That’s all I’m getting? A yep?”

“Yep.” He grunts when I elbow him a little harder and the door cracks open.

“Morning guys.” Sephy pokes her head into the room and smiles over to us.

“Morning.” Max pats the bed and she laughs, swanning into the room in wooly shorts and a crop top. She’s wearing a long, thick cardigan that hangs off of her arms where she hasn’t pulled it over her shoulders and in the early morning light she looks well rested and beautifully calm. Somehow I think she might always just look beautiful and calm.

“What are we talking about?” She jumps into a free spot at the end of the bed and stretches out.

“Max’s new man.”I wink at my best friend when he shakes his head.

Between my giggles and Sephy’s dramatic sighing, Max groans and tries to roll away from me.

“You mean the hunky, tattooed man I found in the kitchen yesterday morning?” Sephy grabs at his ankle and I giggle.

“That very one.” I nod as Max grunts and Sephy squeals.

“He’s pretty hot, Max.” She props her chin into her hands as she pushes up on her elbows. “Does he have siblings?”

Max grins and Sephy shrugs.

“Weird, Sephy.” His laugh is infectious and soon the three of us are curled into fits of laughter and whispers of gossip.
