Chapter Fifteen

Melody

He said all the right things, and I believed him, truly I did. But what concerned me was his grandmother. I knew she was a big part of his life and if she didn’t like me, it would cause problems. Then again, he was asking me to give him a chance, saying that he’d show me how he felt.

Would I be okay walking away and giving up on our relationship without giving him the opportunity to prove himself? When I put it to myself that way, the answer was a resounding no.

“Okay. I’m your girl.” I nodded to myself to reinforce my decision then looked up at Dixon. What I found made my stomach flutter and my thighs clench.

“You’ve made me the happiest man in the world right now, Mellie.” His grin, the relief that poured through him, cemented my decision. I meant a lot to him, and he didn’t want to lose me. “I won’t let anyone make you feel like that again. I don’t care who it is, I’ll put a stop to it immediately.”

“That hurt my feelings, too, Dixon. She just kept calling me the wrong name and saying mean things and you didn’t do anything.” I squeezed his hand and wiped a tear away with the other.

“I know, Mellie, and I’m sorry. I just couldn’t believe what she was saying, and I kept trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. But I should have stopped it immediately. It won’t happen again.” He squeezed my hand back and stroked my arm with his other hand. “You know what hurt my feelings, though?”

I flinched, knowing this was likely coming if I took him back. Dixon was a man of his word, and I didn’t expect him to let my actions go without saying something.

He didn’t force me to answer, though. “It hurt my feelings when you called me a liar and an asshole. Especially since the front door was open and the whole neighborhood could hear your shouting.”

“I’m sorry. I’ve felt awful the last two days; I didn’t mean to be so mean.” Even though my anger was justified, calling people names was not. “I was just so upset.”

“I know you were and, to be fair, I was an asshole for not protecting you from her nastiness, but I am definitely not a liar.” He lifted my chin, so I was looking at him. “Have I ever lied to you, Mellie?”

“No.” I shook my head. “You haven’t.”

“And what rule does shouting at me that I’m a liar break?”

He stroked my cheek and I shuddered at his touch. “The rule against being disrespectful.”

He nodded. “That’s right. And we’re going to address that, but not today.” He released my hand and pushed back from the table. “Today we’re going to enjoy this delicious meal and then watch a movie and go to bed. Tomorrow we’ll deal with your punishment for being disrespectful.”

He went to the oven to retrieve dinner and I sat back, taking another sip of wine. I considered arguing against being punished but he’d apologized and admitted his fault, so I had to accept the consequences for yelling wild accusations at him. He wasn’t mad that I ran out of the house, or even that I called him an asshole. It was the label of liar he didn’t like, and I couldn’t argue with that.

“Here we go,” he said, setting down two bowls of pasta with a serving spoon in each. “I figured we could share tonight.”

I decided I’d take whatever punishment he dished out tomorrow, and probably forever, and returned his smile.

“Sharing sounds perfect.”

My alarm went off at seven thirty and I rolled over to turn it off, only to find a hard wall of man in my way.

I looked up to find Dixon propped up on an elbow, eyes wide open, watching me with a soft smile.

“Good morning,” I mumbled, trying to protect him from my morning breath.

“Good morning. How did you sleep?” He pushed my sleep-mangled hair out of my face as he spoke, gently tucking it behind my ear.

“Pretty good. How about you?”

“Good. Better than I have the last two days, that’s for sure.” I opened my mouth to speak, but he cut me off. "No, I didn’t say that to restart that discussion. We have a small matter to deal with this morning, and after that, we’re putting the whole thing behind us. We both made mistakes and we’re not going to keep rehashing everything.”

I wasn’t surprised that he still planned on punishing me, and I was grateful that he wanted to put our fight in the past. Every time I thought of what his grandmother said to me my stomach twisted, but if I wanted to move forward, I had to trust that Dixon was telling me the truth. That he wanted me for me.

“Okay. Are you hungry?” I asked.

“I am, but I want to get your punishment out of the way, first. Go brush your teeth and come back here.”

His command was clear, but not harsh or unkind. Anticipation and a tiny bit of trepidation shot through me as I went to the bathroom and took care of business. I wasn’t worried he’d hurt me, and if I was completely honest with myself, I was looking forward to connecting with him in our own special way. Even if it was with me facedown over his lap.

I walked back into the bedroom and found him sitting up against the headboard in the center of the bed.

“Take your clothes off,” he demanded when I stopped at the foot of the bed. “Then come up here and get over my lap.”

I stripped out of my tank top and flannel pajama pants and tossed them behind me, pausing to see if he really meant all of my clothes.

“Those, too.” He nodded at my lace panties. “Though they are very pretty, you don’t get to keep them on.”

A shiver ran through me at his implication and nerves began to make my stomach twist, but I did as he requested and slid them off. Grateful that he’d vetoed eating breakfast first, I forced myself to walk to the side of the bed and climb on his lap. Lying across the bed was much more comfortable than dangling with my head down over his knee, and I wondered if he planned to take it easy on me since he did admit he was also at fault.

He began to stroke my back, and my backside, and I relaxed into the sensation, but my serenity was short lived.

“Has anyone ever fucked your ass?” As he asked the question, one finger slid down my asscrack, deep enough that I felt it whisper across the puckered skin hidden from view.

“Uh, no.” I tensed when he grabbed my butt cheeks and pulled them apart.

“I want to. Today.” He massaged my ass, but it didn’t make me loosen up.

“Why? Is that my punishment?”

“No. It’s a demonstration of your trust in me. It’s a way to show me that you believe that I won’t hurt you. And it feels good.”

“For you, maybe.” I snorted at his statement.

“There are plenty of women who enjoy anal. You just need to do it with someone who knows what they’re doing.” He continued his massaging as he spoke, his words distracting me from the fact that he was now circling my asshole with at least two fingers.

“And you do?” I asked, gasping when he breached my entrance with one digit.

“Yes, I do. I won’t hurt you. It might be uncomfortable at first, but I’ll make it good. You just have to let me have control and trust that I’ll keep you safe.”

To my surprise, I considered it. Lots of people had anal sex. In the grand scheme of things, it wasn’t that big of a deal, but I’d never been that intimate with someone, and I suppose that was the point. Dixon wanted something I’d never given anyone else. He wanted me to prove that I trusted him, and to give him the opportunity to show me he could be trusted.

“Okay.” I agreed before I could second guess my decision.

“Good.” He leaned over and I heard a package rip open. “I’m going to put a plug in to stretch you while you get your spanking.” I stiffened and started to roll over without thinking, but Dixon grabbed hold of my hip and pulled me back into place. “I’m going to use plenty of lube and you’re going to relax and let me put this in. Right?”

I wanted to scream no, absolutely not, but I agreed, and I appreciated that he was preparing me first rather than shoving his cock in there as soon as I said yes. So I stilled and grabbed a pillow to bury my face in.

“Good girl, take deep breaths and unclench your ass.”
