CHAPTER 37

OFFICER CYRUS

This has beena hell of a day.

The Omega cries quietly in the backseat, and I’m so fucking confused that I’m not sure what to do.

Why is she crying? Wouldn’t she want to go toEden?

This is such bullshit. I’m not ready for any of this.

I’m barely a month into my badge and uniform, and the world has turned upside down. Suddenly, instant of going after drug-dealers and murderers, we’re trying to round up Omegas and force them into some fancy hotel? Handcuffing them when they’re not even resisting?

They changed our priorities the first week I started, with new, insane protocols that make little sense.

And now, I’m showing up at Beverly Hills mansions like I’m a goddamn private investigator.

I’ve never seen an Omega in person before today.

And holyshit, I finally understand what the fuss is about.

She’s stunning. Beautiful. Her scent is light and airy, something that a perfume could never recreate. I wanted to drop to my knees in front of her and worship her.

It’s like I’m looking at an angel.

And I would have blown that guy’s head off in an instant, which is not like me.

I’m normally level-headed.

The Omega is crying, and it makes me feel like I’m doing something horribly wrong.

“Did they hurt you, ma’am?” I ask quietly, and she sobs harder.

Her scent fills the car, soured and devastating, and I internally panic.

I’m not cut out for this. This is all so fucked up.

And because everything is up in the air, I’m not sure what to do about the Alpha at the house.

She claims they were about to turn her intoEden. But he didn’t want to give her up.

I shouldn’t have drawn my gun. But my desire for theOmegaoverpowered my rational thought.

Maybe that’s why our government has turned upside down and half the city was destroyed.

My radio beeps, and I confirm my find into the device.

“Golden opportunity discovered.”

I hate the term they have us use.

In the rearview mirror, I see the Omega wince.

“Holy shit. Good work, Cyrus. We all owe you a beer after this, you lucky bastard.”

“What do you mean?” I ask, confused.

“You have full access toEdennow. You get her name? There’s one missing around here that’s worth like twenty million if you find her.”
