I grin as he flushes.

God, I love making my Alphas blush.

Wait.

When did I start calling themmyAlphas?!

Oh no.

“Let’s hurry,” I say to Killian, who wraps an arm around my shoulder. “I need them, now.”

The pharmacy is in worse shape than I last saw it.

Half of the building has collapsed, with police tape covering the outside. The double glass doors are boarded up, but another large window has a loose wooden board.

“Baby,” Killian warns. “This place looks dangerous as hell for your foot.”

He releases my shoulder and walks in front of me, kicking the plywood in. It splits with only two kicks, and he uses his hands to pull the rest away.

“You made that look too easy,” I mutter. “And I’ll be fine. I’ll show you where to go. Just lead the way, ‘baby’”.

He snickers and steps into the building.

Thankfully, I’m in lace-up combat boots (provided by Killian, left outside my bedroom door this morning), so the debris is nothing to me. My foot pain is overshadowed by my intense arousal and anxiety, tingles rushing through my body every time Killian’s hand brushes mine.

The building is a shit show.

We step over collapsed shelves, making our way to the back of the building, which thankfully, is not completely rubble.

“God, what a waste,” I mumble, looking at the pill bottles and miscellaneous items spilled on the floor. “The damage to California was billions of dollars, yet they still went through withEden, anyway.”

“That’s because they made all that money back within one day of openingEden,” Killian says distractedly, switching on his flashlight. The door to the pharmacy is warped, but the lock is still intact.

“Of course, you know how to pick locks too,” I say, amused as he works at the lock with his picks, flashlight in mouth.

As soon as he’s able to budge the door open, he grabs his flashlight and smiles. “I know how to do everything with my hands,” he purrs, and a fresh wave of arousal hits me.

“Suppressants,” I squeak, walking past him and into the back of the pharmacy.

Most of it is still standing, which surprises me. He beams his flashlight into the far corners, until finally, something catches my eye.

“This,” I whisper, walking towards a black box with an electronic pin pad. “This is where they kept them.”

“Well then, let’s open her up, baby,” Killian says, placing his hand at the small of my back. “We don’t want you to get too worked up, right?”

His tone sends a shiver down my spine and for one glorious moment, I consider fucking him in the rubble.

As a final ‘fuck you’ to the government.

But he squats down and pulls a multi-use tool out of his pocket, working at a plate of metal near the keypad.

“Fancy,” I murmur, impressed.

“Only the best for you, Princess,” he replies, not missing a beat. The plate pops off, revealing a normal lock.

“Really? It’s that easy?” I ask. He works on the next lock, handing the flashlight to me. I shine it on him as I glance around the rest of the ruined area.

“We should look for Heat supplies if they have any,” I murmur, as Killian slams his hand on the top of the safe. It rattles, and he smacks it again.
