Then I end the call.

Brock takes the phone from me and removes the battery.

“Just in case,” he murmurs.

I watch numbly as he tosses the both the phone and battery into the trash can, my eyes wet with tears.

I can’t breathe.

“Hey,” he whispers. “Olive.”

Brock did this for me. Brock risked his safety just to allow me to hear my mother’s voice.

“Why did you do it?” I ask him, finally. “Why do this for me? You could lose everything.”

“You don’t already know?” He asks quietly, his voice low. His eyes darken, and my vision blurs as he wipes away a tear from my cheek.

“Know what?”

“You’re my fucking world,” he whispers. “I’d give up everything just to see you smile.”

His confession shocks me, and another sob tears at my throat.

He pulls me into his arms, his scent enveloping me, and purrs.

The rumble soothes me, my inner Omega sighing in relief.

Alpha takes care of us!

“Thank you,” I murmur. “You have no idea what you’ve done for me.”

A weight is lifted off my chest.

My parents know I’m safe.

“You never have to thank me for making you smile,” he whispers, pressing a kiss to my hair. I close my eyes, my tears subsiding.

His deep, warm scent caresses my senses.

I have a connection to him I don’t have to Killian or Dylan. It’s something different.

Something that I want more of.

His hand rubs soothing circles on my back, and I let out a soft sigh. The dress I worefor himslides up my thigh, and I’m done fighting the attraction.

He laid his cards out on the table.

Now it’s my turn.

“Brock?” I murmur, tilting my head up to look at him.

He meets my eyes, his expression soft.

“I want you to kiss me.”
