“You caused this!” I scream at him, hot tears boiling over the edges of my eyes, spilling down my cheeks. “I left because ofyou! You destroyed me! You ruinedus!” Something that burns clogs my throat, and I stagger away from him, wiping my face.
He grabs my wrists, his skin lighting mine on fire. “You think you know everything, but you don’t—”
“I know enough!”
“—And you don’t fucking listen!”
“I don’t want to listen!” I cry out, anger spurting out of me in waves. “I don’twantto hear you. I don’t want to care. Justleave me alone.”
“You’re such a fucking brat!” he seethes, fists balling at his sides.
“And you’re a Goddamn coward.”
Wrenching my hands from his hold, I stomp away from him and this time, he lets me.
“Am I?” I hear him ask in a low, calm voice. So unlike the yelling match we just had. “You’re the one walking away.”
The tears fall harder and faster with each step, but I don’t turn back.
