“Yeah. Fine. But I might head home after this.”

Nick blinks before nodding. “Sure. That’s fine.”

I’ve lost my appetite and manage only a few mouthfuls, before I spend the rest of breakfast pushing food around my plate. Nick realises my mood drop and we finish breakfast quickly. He doesn’t reach out to me when he drops me off, like he usually would.

“I’ll call you later,” he says.

“Thanks for breakfast. Talk soon.”

“Feel better,” he says as I shut the door.

I walk inside and fall into bed.

I wish I could erase last night, but I also wish it would happen again.
