That one corner of Dante’s mouth ticked upward. “Yes,” he said, pushing away from the door. “A mystery for both of us. I asked Captain Burrowes to pick a location and to take his time getting there.”

“I see.”

Dante crossed the room to me, a dark and hungry look in his eyes. I swallowed and backed up a step. Old habits, I guess.

His eyes narrowed. “Where are you going, bambina?”

“Nowhere. I just.... Would you look at that view?” I turned abruptly to look out the windows, not really seeing the blue ocean before me as my nerves got the better of me. Why was I nervous? I wanted this! I wanted him! Apparently, it would take more than one night to get over my virginal nerves.

Dante’s strong hand settled over my shoulders as he came up behind me, pulling me back against his torso. His head bowed and his lips found the column of my neck.

“You’re nervous,” he stated matter-of-factly as his mouth trailed down my neck and lingered on the curve of my shoulder. “I wonder why?”

He slipped one finger beneath my spaghetti strap, pushing it aside so he had full access to my shoulder. I shivered as his tongue did delightful things to the skin he found there. One arm stole around my waist and pulled me tighter against him. Dante’s hips pressed forward, pushing his growing erection into my buttocks. He growled at the sensation and I melted in his arms.

I wanted to deny that I was nervous but there was no point. I was beginning to suspect that Dante knew me better than I thought he did. The choices he made for me, the gestures he showed me, the clothes he bought me – every decision he made was nearly perfect for me. I just had to let go of myself and my reservations. I had to relax and...

“That’s right, bambina,” he purred in my ear. “Surrender to me.”

He knew my body after just one night. He could feel me give myself over to him. Turning me in his arms, Dante looked down at me.

“Do you trust me, Noemi?”

I nodded, but answered, “Yes, I trust you,” when Dante started to frown.

Words! Don’t forget the words! I didn’t want to disappoint him. I had to remember - words!

The frown slid easily from his face once I spoke. “I made you a promise earlier.” He walked over and very deliberately closed the cabin door. “I’m a man of my word, Noemi.”

Dante crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back against the door. I didn’t see how he was going to deliver on the promise his eyes had made earlier if he stood on the other side of the room. I cocked my head to one side and watched him, a growing unease taking over my body. I wasn’t prepared for whatever he had in mind.

“Stop thinking,” he barked, and I jumped.

Our eyes met. I stilled at the lust I found in his.

“Stop analyzing, Noemi. Stop worrying. Take off your clothes.” He put his hands in his pockets and stared at me. “Now.”
