I couldn’t think. I didn’t know what this meant. We were through? Was this a goodbye?Wham Bam, Thank you, ma’am? Had we worked it all out or was this really the ending he wanted?

I squeezed my eyes shut and clung to him, afraid to let go any sooner than I had to.

Kisses hailed down the side of my neck, across my shoulder, and down my arm. As if he’d read my mind, Gabriel turned me in his arms and braced himself over me. I swallowed hard, waiting for him to speak. I could force the issue. I could quit being a coward and a doormat. I ran my hand through his hair, and he closed his eyes, tipping his head back before letting it fall to my chest.

“Tell me to leave,” he pleaded, dragging in a deep breath.

I wanted to have that strength, that level of determination, but I wanted him more, even if it meant taking that risk one more time...maybe for the last time.

I shook my head and ran my hand down his muscled back. “I can’t. I won’t.”

Gabriel raised his head, then cupped my cheek and ran his thumb over my swollen lips. I opened my mouth and leaned forward slightly to capture his thumb between my lips. I started to suck, and he closed his eyes and moaned.

“Damn you, Suzanne.”

I felt him start to harden against my thigh.

So I sucked harder, trailing my hand down his spine to the back of his thigh. He stood up, pulled me to my feet, and tossed me over his shoulder so fast the room spun a bit as he walked to the bedroom. He dropped me onto the bed and stood over me like a conquering warlord.

“You’re going to wish you’d told me to leave,” he growled.

Our eyes met and all I could do was whisper.

“No, I won’t.”
