That was the only warning I got. I swallowed around his length as his release went down my throat, keeping my mouth on him until he was spent. When he eventually pulled back, panting, I looked up at him, blinking to clear my blurry vision.

“Was that okay?” My voice was so hoarse after he’d essentially fucked my throat.

“Was that—Noah. That was the hottest—”

Footsteps sounded on the stairs, and he went straight into panic mode, yanking up his shorts and diving for the kitchen table. I could see his shoulders rising and falling as he tried to regulate his breaths, his hands holding on to the edge of the table with a white-knuckle grip.

Quickly rising to my feet, I rubbed my hand across my face and turned to my forgotten curly fries.

“What’s up?” Travis’ voice sounded from behind me. There was silence for a minute, and then when it was clear that Liam wasn’t going to answer, I cleared my throat.

“Just cooking dinner.”

“Noah? Are you okay?”

As much as I didn’t want to, I turned to face Travis, giving him my best attempt at a smile. “Yeah, I’m fine.”

He came closer. “Are you sure? Your eyes are watering, and you sound like you have a sore throat.”

“Uh, yeah. Maybe I’m coming down with a cold or something,” I offered, grimacing.

He frowned. “It can’t be freshers’ flu—you’ve been here too long for that. Do you need anything? I’ve got supplies of most medication in the cupboard.”

Giving him a genuine smile, I shook my head. “Thanks for the offer, but I’ve got it covered.”

“If you’re sure. But if you need anything, just help yourself.”

When I’d nodded in response, he turned his attention to Liam. “Alright, mate?”

“Alright.” Liam barely looked up. There was a flush to his cheeks, but the rest of his face had paled, and he still had his death grip on the table.

Travis just shrugged it off, rolling his eyes, and headed over to his food cupboard, pulling out a bag of pasta. I put my now defrosted fries in the oven and took a seat at the table across from Liam.

Okay? I mouthed when he met my eyes.

He shook his head, his gaze shuttered.

We had to stop this. He’d let me know that he was confused, and he only wanted something casual, if anything, and I still wasn’t sure if I could handle that. Space was what we both needed.

After today, I’d stay strong and give us both some breathing room.
