When our time was up and we’d fuelled up on coffee from the Sky Garden cafe, we wandered back down to the river, our hands still clasped.

“What made you decide to, uh, come out?” The question that had been at the back of my mind ever since his confession in the kitchen spilled from my lips.

He came to a standstill next to the stone wall that bordered the riverside path. His gaze distant, he stared across the Thames. Eventually, he spoke. “I was fucking miserable without you, Noah. Really, really miserable. I don’t…I didn’t realise how hard it would be. How much I—I’d miss you. I had to get away, because it was killing me.” His voice cracked, and he paused, clearing his throat before he continued. “I went to see my mum. I was telling her about you, and it just hit me all at once.”

I moved closer to him. “I missed you too, Liam. So much. It was so hard without you.”

When he turned to look at me, his expression was anguished. “It was my fault. I hurt you, and I’m so fucking sorry.”

“No.” Shaking my head, I wrapped my arms around him. “All that’s in the past. You don’t have to be sorry for anything. We’re together now, and that’s what matters.”

He breathed a deep, shuddering breath, dipping his head to my neck as he hugged me to him. “Yeah. I’m never letting you go again.” When he raised his head, he met my gaze. “You’remine. I’ll tell the whole fucking world if I have to. Even if it means I have to hire a skywriter or a fucking flash mob.”

A smile tugged at my lips, which he returned. The three words were on the tip of my tongue, and I swallowed them down with an effort. Now wasn’t the time.

“So to answer your question, I guess you were the one who made me realise that I was into guys, and when I finally got my head around it all, I didn’t want to hide it anymore. I wanted to be with you as your boyfriend.” He gave me another soft smile.

“I’m so glad you did.”

The sun’s rays made the water next to us sparkle, catching my eye as he gripped my chin. “Me too. Noah, listen.” The seriousness in his tone had me giving him my full attention, and as I looked into his beautiful blue eyes, my stomach flipped. His warm breath hit my lips as he spoke so quietly, just for me. “I know it’s way too soon for this, but…fuck it. I need to tell you.”

“Tell me what?” My voice shook.

“That I…that I love you.”

I stared at him, my mouth falling open in shock. “You do?”

He nodded, his lashes lowering as he turned his gaze to the ground. He bit down on his lip uncertainly. “Yeah. I think I’ve been falling for a while, but I only put two and two together when I had the conversation with my mum.”

“Liam.” I spoke urgently, suddenly needing to let him know that he wasn’t alone in this. When he raised his gaze back to mine, I pulled him closer. “I love you too. Fuck.I love you. I’ve been wanting to tell you, but I was worried it was too soon.”

He stared at me, his eyes wide and bright, and fuck, I loved him so much. “You do?”

“I do.”

He kissed me again, and everything was good.
