“Don’t you fucking dare.”

I slammed my foot on the accelerator and switched my engine from electric to gas. It kicked forward as she lowered the window. The wind whipped her auburn hair around her.

She turned on the radio and for once, I didn’t care that she’d put on one of her shitty pop playlists. The driving beat echoed the heartbeat that was throbbing behind my zipper.

Her laugh was pure joy and sutured some of the cracks that had tried to open against my will. Since they were too damn close to the surface, I’d take the break she offered me.

Gratefully.

I turned off on my road. It wasn’t as winding as Clay’s, but it was barely paved. I fishtailed once and her eyes widened with excitement. I parked and before I could come around to open her door, she was already out and running toward me.

I braced for her, and she wrapped those ridiculously long legs around me. I gripped her ass and lifted her higher onto my waist, making a beeline for the porch.

Midnight was still out hunting in the woods, thank fuck. I leaned her into the doorjamb as I fished out my keys. She wiggled against me, doing her damnedest to drive me mad with her mouth on my neck.

I kicked open the door.

“Wait.”

I held her against me, my breathing already fast and chaotic. Of course, she’d changed her mind. This madness was too much for her.

“Midnight.”

I narrowed my eyes. “He’s off playing in the woods.”

She nudged the bin of food with her foot. “I don’t plan on letting you up for air any time soon.”

I juggled her enough for me to dip down and dump a huge scoop of food into his bowl. “Happy?”

“Happy.” She linked her arms around my neck. “Take me to bed or lose me forever.”

I closed my mouth over hers and swallowed her sunshine. I didn’t have an answer to that one. I would probably lose her forever before I was ready, but for now, I was keeping her.

And the sunshine.

I slammed the door with my foot and stalked through the kitchen to the stairs. There was just enough sun left to light my way up the stairs.

She tipped her head and looked down at me, playing with the short hairs at the nape of my neck. I slowed my steps as I got to the top.

She lowered her mouth to mine and the kiss was no less wild, but this time, it was a slow burn. The kind that could last for days.

I pressed her into the wall at the top of the stairs and sunk into her flavors and textures. The warmth of her skin and the softness of her lips, the slow slide of her tongue along mine.

I skated my way down her chin to her neck as she arched back for me. Her collarbone looked so damn delicate. No straps, no jewelry, just endless freckles. I blazed my way across to her shoulder and scraped my teeth over the roundness there before lifting her again.

My gait was slow down the dark hallway. More of the late day sun streamed through the windows of my room. There wasn’t much of it left, but maybe this first time, I could take her here in the shafts of sun.

Her soft, golden skin and long, supple arms and legs spread out on my bed.

I hardened again at the thought as I set her on her feet and drew the sweater over her head. I was right.

There was nothing underneath it. Just her softness and the cinnamon tips of her breasts. I pulled off my shirt and tossed it behind me.

She reached for me, her fingertips trailing over the coin at my neck to the ridges of each muscle along my belly to the patch of hair hair above my jeans. Her gaze never left mine as she flicked open the button then slowly drew the zipper down.

I hissed as my aching shaft finally was given a little relief from the pressure. She pushed at my jeans, and I tried to step away, but she held me still.

She crouched before me and tore at my boot laces, freeing one foot then the other, and then she tugged my jeans the rest of the way off.
