I snorted as I took the binder. “Understood.”

Clay tugged her even closer, giving Ransom a quick nod before steering her out of the lodge into the late afternoon sun.

I waited until they were outside before turning to Ransom. “You know it wasn’t kids who stole that cider.”

His eyes were the color of storm clouds. “We don’t know anything yet.”

“Now who’s being stupid?”

“Dammit, Chaos. I didn’t call you stupid.”

“Yeah, well, I’m happy to give the moniker to you.” I shoved the binder into his stomach. “Let’s get this room finished. We have a lot of work to do.”
