“I am.”

“More action, less talking,” I said with a smile.

I heard my sister snort from the table. “Bet that’s the first time you’ve heard that one.”

Ohh, there went another nostril flare. Maybe I could use my sister to distract him instead of my female prowess. “Bet he’ll choke,” I answered her.

“Can I put fifty on it too?” Clay called.

“Where is the loyalty?” Ransom muttered as he stripped off his jacket.

I’d thought the jacket showed off his arms. I was misinformed. The worn green Henley under it hugged all the good parts. Chest, arms, the hint of muscular midsection—all of it was so wrong.

“You did take me for two hundred last weekend,” Clay shot back.

I blinked out of Lustland. I was pretty sure my jaw wasn’t on the floor. I glanced at my sister, but she was too busy staring at her fiancé with a sappy lovesick smile. At least no one else had noticed how Ransom affected me.

“That’s because you have no aim.” Ransom let the dart fly and it hit the twenty mark on the board.

I would not be deterred. He still had to get another twenty. I still had a chance.

The thunk of the dart sitting right next to the first one in the double ring section of the twenty segment made me throw my head back. “For fuck’s sake.”

“Language!” Rachel said without any bite in her tone.

Ransom’s face was stony again when I looked at him. “What?”

“Are you always this dramatic?”

“Yes.”

He threw the last dart, then he swore.

“What?” I ran for the board. He’d aimed for the five which would put his score at zero—aka winner, winner, chicken dinner. But it was just over the metal line that made up each pie slice of the board. “Yes!” I whirled around. “Boo-ya!”

His face was emotionless.

I did a shimmy shake and twirled back to him at the line. “Move, sucker.”

“What was that about you being an adult?”

I nudged him aside with my hip and got hit with a blast of dryer sheets and mint. His scent immediately made my rebellious nipples tighten again.

Hopefully, he wouldn’t notice.

Now we were almost even with a possibility of me winning. It was a long shot in every way, but I was going for it.

Dear God, I was going for it.

I shook my fingers out and hopped up and down. “Okay. You can do this.”

He frowned. “Right. You’re going to win this?”

“Yep. Two bullseyes. Totally easy.”

He barked out a half laugh and folded his arms. “All right, Katniss.”

“What if I want to be Hawkeye? Sexist much?”
