When Nero’s answer comes, it’s a low, reluctant growl.
“Deal.”
Oh my God.
I give a nod, then flee back to my room, putting as much distance as possible between us before he changes his mind. I turn the lock once I’m inside and collapse onto the bed, my entire body shaking with the force of what I’ve just achieved.
A way out.
One shot to keep my brother safe—and myself alive to see it.
This isn’t going to be easy, but I will make this work, no matter what.
